I called to find out the cost of the Wild Africa Treck and was having a hard time getting an answer. Do you know what the cost is and as a DVC member is there a discount offered?

    Hello, Michelle!

I called (407) WDW-Tour to find pricing information for you.  Not knowing when you'd like to take this tour, I threw out two different dates, one in March and one in late July.  Walt Disney World Tours told me that the current pricing for March is $189 per person, and that the tour is for Guests eight and older. The July date, however, has not yet had pricing released.  According to the Cast Member I spoke with, this could mean that something about the tour is being "tweaked."  Examples she detailed include pricing, times that the tour is offered or, perhaps, discounts made available to Passholders, etc. She also mentioned that the price at PEAK seasons (Christmas and Spring Break, for example) has been $249.  She doubts, however, that a price increase over the summer would take the cost that high, unless it's over a holiday weekend.

On the other hand, if you go to dvcmember.com, you'll see the two Animal Kingdom Park tours on which Disney Vacation Club Members DO receive a discount at the time of this writing (right now, the DVC discount on Backstage Safari is 15%, and the DVC discount on Wild by Design is also 15%).

Keep checking back, both on dvcmember.com and by calling WDW Tours, though, if you need a price that hasn't yet been released or would like to see if DVC members will get a discount.  I was told, too, that this tour always sells out, no matter what the price.

My fellow Moms Panelists had a few recommendations for your Wild Africa Trek, too: book an early morning trek; wear longer shorts (for greater "harness comfort"); bring only what can be strapped onto you. There is great unofficial information and pics, too, on disneyfoodblog.com. Just look for Erin's posting on January 18th, 2011, for more information!

Please send any additional questions you may have about your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World! I love to help!
