Hey, Sarah and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
I recommend New Year's Eve in Magic Kingdom Park and Epcot to everyone. Yes, the crowds are enormous and yes, Magic Kingdom Park did close from about 11:30 AM till 5:15 PM but it was so magical. Every theme park handed out complimentary black paper party hats and party horns to celebrate. Here is what was going on December 31, 2018, and it seems similar to
New Year's Eve entertainment planned for 2019.
We rang in 2019 at Epcot with the most spectacular viewing of
IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth as well as New Year's Countdown Fireworks at Epcot originating from each country around the World Showcase. This salute to the New Year was so spectacular that I will never forget it. Silent Groove, a DJ dance party located near Future World Fountain Stage, was rockin'! Each participant placed headphones on and danced the night away to their favorite tunes. Passerbys have no idea what music is playing. All the dancing and glowing headphones made me feel like I was in a virtual reality world with Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope von Schweetz.
At Magic Kingdom Park, Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade and Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks entertained Guests twice with an early and late showing. The early fireworks spectacular was at 6:30 PM so little Mouseketeers could see them before they drifted off to Neverland. Tomorrowland and Frontierland had dance parties all the way up till midnight.
Disney Dad Tip: Do not theme park hop on New Year's Eve. Pick a theme park and stay. Follow the
Disney Parks Blog as it gets closer to New Year's Eve for event announcements.
Sarah, enjoy making many Magical Memories.
