As California resident, is the magic key down payment equivalent to admission into park?

    Hello Samantha!

Welcome to planDisney! I apologize that I wasn’t able to provide your answer before the Magic Key sale. As Judy Hopps said in Zootopia, “Life’s a little bit messy. We all make mistakes. No matter what type of animal you are, change starts with you”, so I am here to offer you an answer to your question.

Magic Keys were available for first-time purchase and renewal on January 10, 2024. As a California resident, you had the option of either paying for the Magic Key in full or opting for a monthly payment plan. In years past, the down payment for a Magic Key was the equivalent of a current 1-Day Park Hopper. If you opted for the monthly payment plan, then you would also have to pay the first of the 12 monthly payments at the time of purchase.

If you were able to purchase a Magic Key, congratulations! As you know, activation of your Magic Key occurs on your next visit to the Disneyland Resort! Take a peek at the Magic Key Calendar for park reservations and block-out dates to decide when you plan on activating your Magic Key! Also, review the discounts and benefits that come from your Magic Key. There are plenty of upcoming celebrations in the parks - such as Lunar New Year - that you can take part in! I hope you use your Magic Key to the fullest this year!

    The magic awaits!
