California grill: are minors allowed in the lounge? Does the restaurant pipe in only happily ever after fireworks music or is it on MNSSHP nights too?

    Hi Rachel!

Oh, you’re in for such a treat! Dining at California Grill perched high atop Disney's Contemporary Resort, is truly an experience like no other. Not only will you enjoy some of the most delectable dishes and creative beverages at Walt Disney World, but you'll also be treated to breathtaking views of Magic Kingdom Park and the surrounding area. It's the perfect place to watch the sunset over Cinderella Castle or catch the dazzling fireworks show at night! One of my fellow planDisney panelists, Lynne got me hooked on this dining location. It is a must-do for my planDisney ‘ohana each time we visit together.

As for your question about minors in the lounge, it is my understanding that minors are allowed. The lounge is a great spot if you're looking to enjoy some small plates or cocktails without a full dining reservation. However, keep in mind that seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis and it can get pretty cozy in there! It’s a popular spot for good reason, so I’d check with the hostess when you arrive to confirm the current policy on minors in the lounge.

Regarding the fireworks, you’re in luck! California Grill does pipe in the music for the "Happily Ever After" fireworks show each night, adding an extra magical touch to your meal. If you’re visiting during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, you'll still be able to enjoy the spectacular view and the special fireworks show for the event, complete with the themed music. It’s an unforgettable experience, especially with the panoramic view from the restaurant’s floor-to-ceiling windows or the observation deck outside.

If you're set on dining here, I'd highly recommend making a dining reservation. It's always a hit with guests, and reservations can be tough to come by. But if you dine earlier in the evening, you can return later with your receipt to watch the fireworks from the California Grill lounge or observation deck. So, even if you can’t snag a reservation during the show, there’s still a way to enjoy that stunning view and the magical music.

I hope this helps you plan a truly magical evening at California Grill.
