Ahoy, Karen! After cruising on the
Disney Treasure earlier this year, I have dreams of setting sail on the
Destiny. Everything on board this ship calls me. The
Haunted Mansion Parlor is
spooktacular. I spent so much time here on my cruise. Then the Destiny upped the game with this lounge and
The Sanctum! You are going to have a mystical, magical time!
Your itinerary includes a day at
Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. I was on the inaugural sailing that visited Disney's island destination in Eleuthera and stopped twice. It was so much fun to have a chance to go back and experience so many of its offerings.
Mabrika Cove is home to the family cabanas at Lookout Cay. This area is close to the ship's port in its own secluded area. Spending the day with the cabana is glorious! This area has its own beach area, with lounge chairs available to sit by the sea with the view of your home away from home on the horizon.
A cabana comes with seating for relaxing or even a cool nap away from the sun's gaze. They are also stocked with a mini-fridge with chilled sodas and waters, and snacks. They have sunscreen and towels, too, so you can pack light for your day off the ship. This area also has its own restaurant, so barbecue, burgers and ice cream are a short stroll away. With a cabana rental, bikes and snorkeling gear are also included. Oh, and a hammock! Losing track of time in a hammock is my favorite way to spend a day at Castaway and Lookout Cay.
This area is designed to be a retreat, separate from the busyness of the family beach area. While Disney characters have been known to stop by and say "Hiya, pal," the dance parties and character greetings are usually near the Goombay Cultural Center and the Family Beach. While separate areas, they are only a short tram ride away. The magic of the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app extends to this island destination. You can check the app to see when and where the character activities take place.
Even with a cabana, you will want to spend time on the other side of Lookout Cay. The Junkanoo Celebration is so much fun and gives you a taste of local culture and tradition. For a
splashtastic time, there is Rush Out Gush Out! You don't have to be a little Mouseketeer to love a splash pad and slides.
Although there is no reserved lounge seating for Guests at this beachside, there were plenty of lounge chairs available during the two days I spent there (and our ship was sold out). There's no guarantee, of course, but it was not an issue for us.
Karen, I am thrilled you have made
planDisney a part of your
Disney Cruise Line vacation planning. You have a friend in us!
Bon Voyage!
