If we use a cab on disney property will my kids need car seats? ( 3 year & 6 year old) We are not shipping down our car seat and booster seat, plan on using the bus service but you never know...if we are running late or just want to get back quicker

    Hi Amber!

This is from the Broward County (FL) Sheriff's office website:

"Florida law requires children under 5 years of age to be properly restrained no matter where they are seated in the vehicle. Children through age 3 must be secured in a separate carrier (child safety seat) or in a vehicle manufacturer's integrated child safety seat. For children ages 4 - 5, a separate carrier, an integrated child safety seat, or a safety belt may be used. If a safety belt does not fit the child correctly, a booster set should be used to correctly position the lap and shoulder belts once they outgrow forward facing child safety seats (generally at about 40 pounds and 4 years old). Children from approximately 40-80 pounds and under 4'9" in height should ride in a booster seat."

So, from this it sounds like your 6 year old would be fine in the seat belt (provided it fits properly, but probably should be in a booster like at home), and your 3 year old would need their car seat to comply with Florida law.

Will a taxi driver transport you without car seats?  Yes.  I've seen it happen.

Now, here are my thoughts...Driving in and around Disney property can be quite an experience.  Many people not paying attention (or knowing) where they are going, looking at maps, GPS, etc.  I've seen my fair share of accidents on property.  That being said, I am also a HUGE car seat advocate and know that the safest place for any child is in a child safety seat.  For my own piece of mind, I'd either pack the seats or commit to not taking a taxi.

    Have a magical vacation!
