Hi Rich, welcome to planDisney!
Walt Disney World Resort has been busy preparing for your arrival. They've hauled out the holly, decked the halls, and turned on the brightest string of lights you've ever seen on Main Street, U.S.A., in Magic Kingdom Park.
When visiting Magic Kingdom Park, Guests park at the Transportation and Ticket Center. The most commonly used modes of transportation to get to the park entrance are the monorail and ferry you mentioned. A walking path also exists if you're looking for the road less traveled. Starting from the Transportation and Ticket Center, veer left and look for signs for the walkway to
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. The pathways through the Polynesian can be confusing, especially at night, but you can either stay on the path closest to the water or cut through the Great Ceremonial House. There is some construction between the Great Ceremonial House and the Disney Wedding Pavilion so keep an eye out for construction walls and detours as you make your way to
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. From there, you know you're in the home stretch when you pass by
Gasparilla Island Grill and continue on the walking path until you get to security. The entire walk is roughly two miles and takes 30-45 minutes, depending on your specific route and pace.
My watch told me I set another move record at Walt Disney World Resort last week. If you really want to give your pedometer some love, consider signing up for a
runDisney race. There's magic in every mile!
Plan magic; planDisney.
