Welcome back to planDisney, Margaret! I'm so glad to be able to answer your question today. Using
Lightning Lane is really easy once you get the hang of it, so I'm happy to help make sense of it for you so you can focus on the fun part: choosing what you want to ride first!
Let's start with how Lightning Lane works. There are two types:
If you're staying at a
Disney Resorts Collection Hotel, you can start making Lightning Lane selections 7 days before your check-in date, and you can book for your entire stay, up to 14 days. If you're staying elsewhere, your window opens 3 days before the start of your ticket, and you can book for the length of your ticket.
Now, when it comes to the prices, those are released about 3 weeks in advance in the
My Disney Experience app. You'll be able to check out the prices for the length of your stay and decide which days you want to use Lightning Lane. When your booking window opens, here's how you'll book:
- Tap the "Purchase" button in the Lightning Lane section of the home screen of the My Disney Experience app.
- Select the date you want to purchase your Lightning Lane return times for, and then proceed to the next screen to select the park you want to visit.
- Select whether you are purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Lightning Lane Single Pass, or both.
- Confirm your booking party, and choose the attractions you'd like to book return times for.
- Proceed to the next screen to confirm the times selected for you. You can modify these times in this screen if you'd like, or you can modify any time after you complete the purchase.
- Confirm your selections and complete your transaction.
Once you use your first Lightning Lane selection in the theme park, you will be able to book more one at a time, even in a different park if you're hopping!
I hope this answers your question, Margaret, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation.
