If I am buying a ticket for the Magic Kingdom, but have dinner reservations for a character dinner in Epcot at night. Do I need to purchase a Park Hopper pass to get into my dinner reservations? How may I get into Epcot for dinner that night?

Hi Jill! Yes, you will need to purchase a Magic Your Way Ticket with Park Hopper option to be able to visit more than one Park on the same day.  You will only be able to attend your Dinner Reservations within the Parks by having Park admission to that Park. You could reconsider your Dining Reservations and dine at the Park that you plan to visit for the day to avoid the purchase of more costly tickets with the Park Hopper option. However, depending on the availability for the restaurant that you have Advanced Dining Reservations for in Epcot, it might be better to purchase the ticket with the Park Hopper option and save your reservation. I often plan our "Park of the Day" based on the Advanced Dining Reservations that I am able to secure. Hope this helps.
