Sherri from FL Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

I am buying a pixie dust pass now so I can make reservations in the park for December. So I hear that it expires one year from the date purchase. I thought it would be from the first time you use the pass. Doesn’t seem fair.

Hey there, Sherri! Welcome to planDisney! I'm so happy that you've stopped by with such a great vacation planning question. I'm so excited to chat Disney with a soon-to-be fellow Annual Passholder!

Well, it sounds as if the magic is calling you, Sherri, and I couldn't be happier that you're answering the call! The magic called me, too, and I became a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder in 2015. The names of the Passes may have changed, but the magic is the same. Being able to make a Theme Park Pass reservation and head to my happy place on a whim brings joy, fun and excitement to my life. I'm SO excited that as a Florida resident, you can purchase a Disney Pixie Dust Pass, despite all other new Annual Pass sales being paused at this time, and that you will soon experience this same pixie-dusted joy. So, let's chat about your upcoming year of magic!

I think you will be happy to hear that your Walt Disney World Annual Pass expires one year from your Pass activation and the first day of its use at a theme park, and not from the date of purchase. If you purchase your Annual Pass now, you will see an Annual Pass certificate in your My Disney Experience account and you have one year to activate and begin using your Annual Pass. So, that means that if you plan on activating it in December, that gives you plenty of time before its activation expiration. With this certificate linked to your My Disney Experience account, you will be able to begin making Theme Park Pass reservations for your December vacation. Once you arrive at Walt Disney World Resort to begin your magical vacation at The Most Magical Place on Earth, be sure to head to Guest Relations right outside of any of the theme parks or in Disney Springs to activate your Annual Pass before its first use. If you activate your Annual Pass in December 2022, you will have a December 2023 Annual Pass expiration date. Once it is activated, you have a full year of fun and magic unlocked! Enjoy!

Pro tip: Make it a habit to always ask "Is there a Passholder discount here?" I've learned that Annual Passholder discounts on dining, shopping and more are available at SO many locations and are always subject to change, so, I never hesitate to ask! You never know where you may find some extra pixie dust and savings! Just always have your photo ID and either your Annual Pass Card or your Disney MagicMobile Pass tucked into your smartphone's digital wallet to present as your key to the pixie dust!

Sherri, I hope this was helpful, and I hope you have the most memorable upcoming year of magic! Please stop by any time with any questions you may have. You've got a friend in me!

I hope to see ya real soon,

    Mandy
