Buying the Memory Maker, just me and my partner going so it is something that will be good for us to get, however I am a little confused how it works. Do I just go up to the photographers & say something to them or do they just see the band & scan

    Hi Shauni,

When you're at Walt Disney World, you'll see loads of PhotoPass/MemoryMaker photographers stationed at locations throughout the parks. They typically are wearing a khaki vest and are always carrying a big camera. Once you've seen one you'll know exactly what to look for.

With the Memory Maker, you can go up to any of the Disney photographers and ask them to take your photo at any time. This works at general locations as well as at character meet & greets and at character meals where there are photographers. After they've taken your photo, just hold out your wrist and they will scan your MagicBand to link your picture with your account.

In addition to in-park photographers, the Memory Maker product also works to capture the photos taken during several rides. This is now completely automated. For example, during a trip to WDW last month, my daughter and I rode on Tower of Terror. We didn't even stop at the photo counter after the ride; we just went back to our other park touring. When we got home and I checked my Memory Maker account, not only was our photo captured on Tower of Terror, but there was also a cute themed video of us. I don't completely understand the technology, but it has to do with the RFID chips imbedded in the MagicBands (which really are magic as far as I'm concerned).

Once you get to the park you'll see how simple the system really is, but if you have any questions feel free to ask a photographer or stop by Guest Relations and they can give you on-the-spot instructions.

    Have a great trip!
