We will be buying a 2 day hopper pass with genie plus. Depending how much we get done on day one, we may need a 3rd day. Can we then upgrade to a 3 day hopper pass or do we have to decide before we get to Disneyland?

    Hey there Tonya,

Welcome to planDisney and thanks so much for this question! I've definitely found a "sweet spot" in 3-day trips to the Disneyland Resort. Although, I visit at least annually - if I lived further away then I actually might consider more like 4-5 days to be the sweet spot!

This is a great question that you bring up. Typically, standard theme park tickets can be upgraded to tickets that are equal or greater in value. However, you would need to make this upgrade before you've completely used your current tickets. In other words, if you visited for your two days and then went back on the morning of what would be your third day then your original tickets would already be used up and no longer eligible for an upgrade, so you would need to make the upgrade before the end of the second day of your visit.

Additionally, to visit one of the parks of the Disneyland Resort, you need theme park reservations. However, they are subject to availability and from what I've seen, these frequently get all booked up for same or next-day visits. Therefore, if you waited to try and add on a third day to a trip until you arrived, there is a good chance that there would not be any theme park reservations available for your third day and you would therefore not be able to visit. I've had this happen to me a few times when I wanted to add an extra day during a trip!

Therefore, you could either call a Cast Member at the Tickets line now to see if your tickets are eligible for an upgrade or you could take a chance and wait until your trip - knowing that theme park reservations might not be available for your planned third day.

You certainly should consider your trip logistics and budget, but if it's an option for you then I'd say add on that third day. Personally, I've never regretted it. It helps you to feel a bit more relaxed during your trip knowing that you'll have plenty of time to get in everything that you want!

Thanks again for your question, Tonya! Have a wonderful visit to the Happiest Place on Earth.

    Have a Magical Day,
    Greg
