Thanks for cruising over to planDisney with a great question about MagicBand+. Available on
select Disney Cruise Line sailings, these bands are cute and functional additions to your trip. I just recently returned from a sailing on the
Disney Dream and enjoyed being hands-free to open my stateroom door, board the ship, and make purchases - especially since I had a toddler in my arms!
Krista, while Disney Cruise Line refers to these as
DisneyBand+, they use the same technology as MagicBand+, which means you can use a MagicBand+ you have from a visit to one of the Disney theme parks on the cruise. However, once a MagicBand+ has been linked to and used by another Guest, it
cannot be transferred to you. I know this may not be the answer you were hoping for, but I'm happy to share a few options to consider before your upcoming sailing.
Since your cruise is approaching quickly, you may be outside of your pre-purchase window for a DisneyBand+. You can confirm whether you can still purchase ahead of your trip by navigating to "
DisneyBand+ & More" on the Disney Cruise Line website.
DisneyBand+ is also available to purchase onboard, but you will have to wait until the stores open when the ship leaves port. While DisneyBand+ is very convenient, you can also choose to use the
complimentary Key to the World card you're provided to do the same things. My husband actually prefers to use his Key to the World card rather than wearing a DisneyBand+ in addition to his smartwatch.
