Hi Mike,
Welcome to planDisney! There is an immediate swirl of excitement when Disneyland announces that
Magic Keys are going back on sale. Having a key to the kingdom is one of the most pixie-dusted ways to experience the Happiest Place on Earth.
There are a few layers to your question, so I'm glad you are thinking ahead! It sounds like you are planning to purchase a 1-Day park ticket and would like a reservation for Disneyland Park on January 22nd. I hope I have that right! I took a quick peek at the
theme park reservation calendar, and there are currently reservations available for both standard theme park tickets and Magic Keys for that day. Of course, this is subject to change, but that's good news for now! When you purchase the ticket, you will select your preferred day as part of the check-out process and this will in turn make the park reservation for you.
Magic Keys are set to go on sale no earlier that 9:00am PST on January 22nd, 2025, and there are a few options for Guests looking to
upgrade their standard theme park tickets. If you decide to try this route, it's important to keep in mind that upgrades are subject to availability and not guaranteed. I'm hoping this won't be the case, but it is something to consider. Provided all the stars align, as long as the current price of the Magic Key is equal or greater than the price of the standard theme park ticket, you will hopefully have that key in your hand. Ok, now let's see what we can do!
Timing is everything here as current theme park reservations do not transfer to your Magic Key when you upgrade. With this in mind, our recommendation would be to scan into the park with your standard theme park ticket on the 22nd. If Magic Keys are still available, partially used tickets can be upgraded in the Disneyland Mobile App. With a 1-day ticket, you would need to upgrade my midnight on the day of your visit. Head to the "Tickets & Passes" section and tap the "Upgrade" button. If you run into any hiccups in the process, find a friendly Cast Member or head to City Hall at the front of the park. Alternatively, wholly unused tickets can be upgraded in person at the ticket booths in the Main Gate Esplanade. If you choose to go this route, you would be subject to same-day availability of reservations for Magic Key holders. In either case, you can always ask a Cast Member when you arrive if you have any further questions or call
Guest Services ahead of time.
I'm going to wish upon a star that a Magic Key is in the cards for you, Mike! The best way to stay up to date on the latest Magic Key offerings is to follow the
Disneyland Magic Key Instagram account. This is where you will hear about the latest special offers, giveaways, photo opportunities, and more. They just featured some exclusive merchandise for the
Lunar New Year Celebration that kicked off this weekend - it's as festive as the celebration itself!
I know this as a lot to process. If you have any more questions, we are always here for you at
planDisney.
Magic awaits,
Tara
