Do I have to buy a ticket for my child who turns 3 the day we go to Disney?

Hi Christina, and welcome to planDisney! Let's help you celebrate your little Mouseketeer's big day at the Walt Disney World Resort!

My family loves spending birthdays at Walt Disney World. In fact, my son has been in the parks for nearly every one of his 11 birthdays so far. I think my favorite memory is his first birthday, when we got his first haircut at Harmony Barber Shop. That one is going to be hard to top!

As our Disney kids grow up, one of the many milestones they'll cross is being too old for complimentary theme park admission. Little ones age two and younger are admitted for free, but once they turn that magical age of three, they do need a ticket for park entry. You can head over to the Tickets page on the Walt Disney World website to learn how to purchase a ticket for your preschooler.

Christina, to make your little one's birthday extra special, be sure to pick up a celebration button! They're free, and you can ask for them at any Guest Relations location or most retail shops around the theme parks. A Cast Member will be happy to personalize it for you, and your child will just love the birthday wishes they get all day.

And while you're making all those fun birthday plans, check out Disney's helpful guide that's chock-full of things to do in the theme parks and beyond with young children. It's great to see just how many amazing activities even the youngest Guests can enjoy.

I hope this helps your family celebrate your little one's birthday with a touch of Disney magic, Christina. Thank you so much for stopping by to see us, I wish you a joyous holiday!

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

    Kathy K.

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
