Ia orana, Amber! Maeva, welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
I am happy that you and your mother are seeking out your roots right “Where You Are.” During these times of social distancing, my family and I have longed to follow in the ways of our favorite Princess of Motunui and see “How Far I’ll Go.” From our living room, we have tried to see the world through many of our favorite Disney movies on
Disney+. I’m so happy that
Moana can be found on that streaming service. Though, sadly, the Tahitian version is not an available option at this time.
Walt Disney Animation Studios made history when they made Moana the first feature-length film to be
fully translated and dubbed into the Tahitian language. In early 2017, the Te Reo Tahiti version of Moana was screened in Papeete. Unfortunately, I’m not aware of a broad distribution of that version available for purchase at this time. Although, you may find a short clip of the song “Where You Are” in Tahitian released by the Walt Disney Animation Studios. You can find it by searching for “@DisneyAnimation Tahitian Moana” on Facebook or Twitter.
“We Know The Way” to more Moana at the Disney Parks as well. If the sea ever calls you on a visit to the Disneyland Resort, I hope you can take an opportunity to find her in the new “
Magic Happens” parade in Disneyland Park. My favorite float in the “
Magic Happens” parade features
Moana riding her voyager canoe. The view through the ocean wave following Moana is truly magical. You may even be able to spot Gramma Tala swimming in her manta ray form.
Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Amber. I hope you will come back again with any more questions you may have.
Nana! See you later!
