Can i buy my son a dining plan if he is 2? I know 2 and under eat free, but most of the restauraunts we want to book are not buffet so we'll eventually have to pay out of pocket for him.

Greetings, Isabel.  Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question.

At this time, the Disney Dining Plan is currently unavailable to children under 3 years old.  As you know, children under 3 can eat free at Walt Disney World restaurants.  At buffet style meals, your child is welcome to have as many of his own plates as he'd like.  If you dine at restaurants where you order an entree off of the menu, you son can plate share with you if you'd like.  If you wish to order him something of his own off of the kids menu, you will need to pay for that out of pocket.  Ultimately, you'll save money just paying out of pocket for a few kids meals here or there when you need to versus buying a whole separate plan even if you could.  At that age, my daughter was happy sharing off of my plate and then getting popcorn when we left the restaurant.

I hope this helps.  If you have any other questions, please come back and ask.

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
