Hi Mary, welcome to planDisney! I'm enchanted to hear that you plan to purchase the
Southern California Resident Ticket! It's a great way to save on three days of fun at the Disneyland Resort. Besides the savings, you also have flexibility with your park reservations. Let's sprinkle some pixie dust and get into it!
As you mentioned, while purchasing your Southern California Resident Ticket, you'll select the dates you will visit and which park. That way, you'll have
park reservations secured by the time your tickets are confirmed. However, you can conveniently switch your reserved dates and/or parks even after the purchase is complete.
First, make sure your ticket is tied to your Disney account. The easiest way to do this would be to sign in before purchasing your tickets
on the Disneyland website. If your ticket isn't showing up on your account, hover over the "My Disneyland" button on the website and click "Link Tickets and Passes." This can also be done on the
Disneyland mobile app by tapping on the three horizontal lines (≡) at the bottom of the screen, tapping "My Tickets & Passes," tapping the blue plus sign (+) icon, and then "Link Tickets & Passes." Once your tickets are linked, you'll be able to modify park reservations.
To modify an existing reservation, hover over the "My Disneyland" button on the website and click "Theme Park Reservations." From there, click "Make or Modify Park Reservations" to adjust one or more dates tied to your ticket. You can also do this on the app. Tap the plus (+) icon at the bottom of the screen, tap "Make a Park Reservation," and then tap "Make or Modify Park Reservations." From here, you'd scroll to the reservation you want to change, tap "Modify Reservation," select the Guest(s), and finally select a new date and/or park. Make sure to tap "Confirm" for the change to be processed. I've known Guests who thought they updated their reservation but, in actuality, didn't because they missed the "Confirm" button.
As a Magic Key Holder, I've had lots of practice with making and adjusting park reservations. Here are some tips that you might find helpful:
– Ideally, it's best to make reservations as far in advance as possible, especially if you want to visit on a Friday, Sunday, or holiday. I imagine it may be difficult to reserve dates for the SoCal Resident Ticket as the
May 15 expiration date nears, so plan ahead!
– If a reservation is unavailable for the date or park you want, keep checking back. As the date approaches, people may start canceling, and you might be able to snag the reservation you want! You can use the
Theme Park Reservation Availability tool to see what reservations are available for your ticket.
– You can keep a reservation for the same day but modify the park you visit. Remember that you can't park hop with the SoCal Resident ticket, so make a reservation for the park where you want to spend the whole day.
Mary, I realize I've included a lot of information here, but knowledge is power, right? I wish you many magical memories at the Happiest Place on Earth. If you have any other questions, please let us know. We're happy to help!
