Welcome to planDisney, Angela! Thanks for stopping by with a question about my favorite Disney World accessory: the MagicBand. Over the years, I’ve collected a few and never travel to Orlando without packing at least one in my suitcase. Let’s dive into the magic of the
MagicBand+!
The MagicBand+ builds on the features of the MagicBand 2 with an extra dash of Disney Pixie dust. With the MagicBand+, you’ll feel like a part of the magic as it lights up and vibrates in sync with nighttime spectaculars, select entertainment, and the
Disney Fab 50 Character Collection sculptures scattered throughout Walt Disney World Resort.
Since the introduction of the MagicBand+ a few years ago, the MagicBand 2 was discontinued shortly after. While they were available for some time as stock was being cleared, it’s unlikely you’ll find a MagicBand 2 in stores.
I do have some good news, Angela: the MagicBand+ offers all the functionality of a MagicBand 2, even when it needs recharging. The rechargeable feature powers the lights and haptics, but the MagicBand+ will still allow you to enter the theme parks, unlock your Disney Resort hotel room, make purchases, and scan into Lightning Lane entry points, even with a low battery or no charge at all.
If you’d prefer to skip the MagicBand+, you can use
Disney MagicMobile on your phone or Apple Watch as a convenient alternative. With MagicMobile, you can tap your device to enter the theme parks, link PhotoPass photos, check in at Lightning Lane entrances, join virtual queues, and more. During my last Disney World visit, I forgot to charge my MagicBand+, but tapping my phone worked seamlessly!
I hope this helps with your planning, Angela. Wishing you a magical summer stay at The Most Magical Place on Earth! If you have more questions, please don’t hesitate to revisit
planDisney - we’re always happy to help!
Happy planning,
Candace
