Welcome to planDisney, Cole! Thanks so much for coming to us with your question today.
I love that you're already thinking like a pro and you're considering ways to maximize your
Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections while park hopping. The short answer to your question is no, you don't need to purchase a second Lightning Lane Multi Pass for
EPCOT if you're starting the day at
Magic Kingdom; you're totally allowed to hop over and start making selections partway through the day. There's something you need to do first, though, so let's chat about exactly how it works.
When you purchase a Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you'll pre-select up to three attractions in one park, which is typically the park you plan to visit first that day. You can also choose an arrival window for each one, so you can plan your day around those experiences. Now here's the important part: once you've used the first of your pre-booked Lightning Lanes, the system unlocks and allows you to start booking additional return times, even in another park if you're planning to hop!
So in your case, let's say you start your day at Magic Kingdom and you have three Lightning Lane selections: one for
Space Mountain at 9:00 AM, another for
Pirates of the Caribbean at 11:00 AM, and one more for
Haunted Mansion at 1:30 PM. If you use your Space Mountain Lightning Lane at 9:00 AM, the door opens for you to start grabbing other Lightning Lane times, even over at EPCOT!
If your plan is to hop over to EPCOT in the afternoon, once you've tapped into Space Mountain, you can start looking for availability at
Soarin' Around the World or
Frozen Ever After as soon as your next booking window opens. Just keep an eye on the
My Disney Experience app to see what's available and when. No need to buy a whole second Multi Pass, your original one covers you for the whole day!
I hope this answers your question, Cole, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation.
