Can I buy the lighting lane pass days before and then when it comes 3 days before the trip book the rides? Or do I have to purchase and book the same day?

    Kachow, Carolina!

Welcome to planDisney, and thank you so much for zipping by with your question.  Carolina, I am a huge fan of both the Lightning Lane Multipass and the Single Lightning Lane options, as it's a great way to maximize the magic of our day when visiting the parks.  Let's get to the nuts and bolts of the Lightning Lane booking process.

Carolina, to start, if you are a Guest of a Disney Resort Hotel, you can buy and choose your first three attractions for your Lightning Lane Multipass for each day you plan to visit the theme parks during your vacation, beginning 7 days in advance of your check-in date for the length of your stay (up to 10 days.) For Guests not staying at a Disney Resort Hotel, you can buy your Lightning Lane Multipass and make your first three initial selections beginning 3 days ahead of the theme park visit day (so only three days before your Magic Kingdom day and then again three days before your EPCOT day, etc.) One thing to note is that you have to purchase the Lightning Lane Multipass for EACH theme park day per Guest.

For the Lightning Lane Multipass, you have different attractions you can select and reserve (they do not include any of the attractions on the Single Lightning Lane pass).  One thing to note, however, is that for three of the parks, there are two tiers of attractions. You can reserve one attraction in Tier 1 and two attractions in Tier 2, or all three attractions in Tier 2.  As soon as you tap into your first selection, you can then select the next one. At any time, you can hold three reservations, but there can always only be one in Tier 1 and two in Tier 2 or all three in Tier 2 (if you don't have a Tier 1 reservation).

If you plan to Park Hop, you can use your Lightning Lane Multipass for your second park. However, you will only be able to pre-select your first three Lightning Lane attractions in one park for that day. Once you are in the park, you could select ones from your second park as long as you only hold three reservations in their respective tiers at a time.

Now, there are a few attractions not included in the Lightning Lane Multipass for which you can purchase an additional pass called the Lightning Lane Single Pass.  These can be purchased in advance (the same windows as stated for the Multipass). However, they are an additional fee.

For example, 7 days before your check-in date to your Resort, or 3 days before your theme park visit, you could select three Multipass attractions in Magic Kingdom, plus purchase an additional Single Pass for TRON Lightcycle / Run and another Single Pass for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.  In this example, you would have 5 attractions pre-booked.  Once you tap into your first Multipass attraction, you can select another one; however, once you tap into one of the Single Pass attractions, you can't select another Multipass attraction. The Single Lane passes are one-time use only and separate from the Multipass attractions.

You can find a complete list of the attractions in the Lightning Lane Multipass Tiers here.  Attractions that currently use the Single Lightning Lane passes are:

    - Magic Kingdom Park: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON Lightcycle / Run
    - EPCOT: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
    - Disney's Hollywood Studios: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
    - Animal Kingdom Park: Avatar Flight of Passage

I hope this helps you, Carolina! If you have any further questions, make a pitstop here, and I'll help you faster than fast and quicker than quick.
