Hello! I want to buy an Imagine Key that’s for socal residents only and I understand it’s required to have an ID, but if I don’t yet have a solid ID am I able to use a temporary one while my card is still being mailed in?

    Hi Emily,

Thanks for visiting planDisney! It sounds like you're thinking of getting a Magic Key! If you need a Disney accountability partner, I’m here to say, “Yes! Get the Magic Key!”

What you’ve heard is true, Emily—you do need a valid government photo ID with your qualifying address. When you first enter the park, the Cast Member at the gate will ask to see your wonderful photo ID to validate your address for this particular Magic Key. It sounds like your new ID could arrive any day now, so you can get a head start on the logistics and purchase your Inspire Key now. In order to purchase the Imagine Key, make sure your MyDisney account has your updated address and that the credit or debit card you use to pay for your key has the same qualifying address.

Once you receive your beautiful ID in the mail, you can head to the Happiest Place on Earth to celebrate! You’ll need to activate your Magic Key within a year of the purchase date before it expires. The first day you scan into the park will be your activation date, and you’ll have 365 days of magical memories ahead of you.

2025 is an amazing year to get a Magic Key because Disneyland will be celebrating its 70th Anniversary! On July 17 (Disneyland’s official anniversary date), “it’s a small world” will premiere with a new verse. This is one of my daughter's favorite rides, so I can not wait to hear the new verse. Talk about historic!

Emily, I hope this information is helpful. Your Magic Key is going to unlock some amazing benefits and bring you even closer to the magic. Follow Disney Parks on social media for more information on all that’s coming to the parks in 2025. Please feel free to write back to me or my fellow panelists if you have any more questions.

    See you in the parks!
