Hi there Francie, and welcome to planDisney!
Thanks for stopping by with your question. We appreciate your patience as we assist all Guests anxious to join us for
the holiday season and
50th-anniversary celebration. It's quite an exciting time to be planning a visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth!
What a sweet Fairy
Grandmother you are to give your precious princess the gift of a Walt Disney World visit! My parents live part-time in the Sunshine State, so my family is quite familiar with the rules regarding who can buy and use those special
Florida Resident tickets. They often take advantage of their resident status to gift theme park tickets to my little ones.
Francie, the reason my mom can purchase Florida resident tickets for my children is that she has a Florida address associated with her
My Disney Experience account, thereby giving her access to the special offers only available to Mickey Mouse's closest neighbors. To activate the tickets, she must provide
digital proof of residency upon purchase, or stop by a ticket window or Guest Relations in Walt Disney World and present proof of residency in person.
Because someone with access to Florida resident ticket offers would need to purchase and activate the ticket for your granddaughter, your options are to either buy her a standard
ticket available to the general public or to have a parent or guardian who also resides with her in Florida make the purchase. You could also gift your granddaughter a
Disney Gift Card for the amount of her ticket; she and a parent could use it for the payment of a Florida resident ticket.
I hope this is helpful, Francie! Best wishes putting together a magical visit for your granddaughter. If there's anything else we can help you with before her adventure begins in March, don't hesitate to reach out. We're all ears! Thanks again for stopping by, and we'll see ya real soon.
