Hi there, We are going to buy Disneyland tickets on the 15th We are concerned as only California residents are allowed in. We live in California but my mom who is from out of state has been living with us for the past couple months. Will she be allowed?

    Hi Hailey!

So happy to hEAR that you will be able to visit Disneyland Resort “for the first time in forever.” Do you wanna visit a theme park? SAME! Like you, I am super excited about the idea of visiting Disneyland Park and Disney’s California Adventure Park. But as a South Carolina resident, I need to “Let It Go” and be patient until the state of California decides to allow travelers from out-of-state.

I get that this is complicated since your mom is currently living with you. But as an out-of-state resident, she would not be able to access the theme parks when they reopen on April 30th since the initial reopening will include California residents only.

When Guests log in to make theme park reservations, their account shows both their address and confirms California as their state of residence. While you could make theme park reservations for your immediate family, you would not be able to make one for your mom since her permanent address is not a California one.

I know this is not what you hoped to hear, but there are definitely valid health and safety reasons to control the scope of the initial access and make sure that Disneyland's phased reopening is successful. Then that will mean that Disneyland Resort can consider reopening to include Guests from other states sooner!

To keep tabs on the latest updates, follow the Disney Parks Blog and the Disneyland Resort website. Think of these sites as Queen Elsa as  she announces to “open up the gates” of Arendale in Frozen! Only in this case, it’s opening up the gates of Disneyland Resort to Guests outside of California. Then your family and your mom can say, “Oh happy day!”

Hailey, I hope this gives you a ray of hope that soon the Happiest Place on Earth will be wide open to the whole world. Hey, we can be like Olaf and wish that it happens “In Summer.” Please come back to planDisney anytime because we love helping Guests...it’s better than warm hugs!
