If I buy Disney tix now, can I combined them later with a "room only" ress. into a package for a future trip? I worry that buying tix ahead of time may ruin my chances of taking advantage of a promo that may come out later that requires a package

    Hi Jennifer!

I am so glad that you asked!  Your gut reaction is right - you cannot combine tickets with room only reservations to "create" a package.  Promotions, such as free dining, require a minimum number of ticket days to be purchased in order to qualify.  The good news is that in the past, it has usually just been a two day ticket that has been required.  However, you would not be able to combine your new tickets with your old tickets and as you may know, it is much more affordable to add on days to a current ticket than to purchase two sets.  Confusing huh?

If you want my opinion, I would go ahead and purchase a package now, pay the $200 deposit and then call 1-407-WDISNEY if and when any promos come up that you qualify for.  You MAY have your package that is already booked (and even paid in full) turned into a discounted or promotional package.  For instance, let's say that you book a package now and find out three weeks from now that free dining has been announced during your travel dates and that you do qualify.  Just call them up and let them know that you would like to take advantage of it!  You have nothing to lose by booking early and everything to gain - have fun!
