Hi Julie! Welcome to planDisney!
Oh boy! A Walt Disney World holiday is on the horizon! You definitely have the right idea of purchasing your park tickets now. With
theme park reservations required to enter the parks each day, you are going to want to secure them as soon as possible.
There have been some recent changes to Disney Genie+, specifically when you can add the service to your tickets. For
new ticket purchases, you will not have the option to add Disney Genie+ to your tickets before your visit. All Guests will need to purchase the service each day that they wish to use it. Before your visit, download the
My Disney Experience App to your mobile device and log in to your account. Then each park day you want to add on Genie+, you'll need to purchase it using the app. The process is very simple and can be completed in a matter of moments. Once you are in the app, tap on the three horizontal bars on the bottom right of your screen, followed by "My Genie Day". Once here, select the purple bar that reads "Get Disney Genie+ For Today". Follow the prompts from here to complete the purchase. You can add this at any time of the day, starting at midnight the day of.
Although this is an extra step to take, I actually prefer this method more. When Guests were able to purchase the service before their visit, they needed to add Disney Genie+ for their entire length of stay. With the Magic Ticket being up to 14 days long, there may have been days when Genie+ was not needed but was already paid for. By purchasing the day of, you may be able to save since you will only be purchasing the service for the days you want to use it.
Julie, I'm excited you get the chance to be part of the
World's Most Magical Celebration. With the celebration lasting for 18 months, it has allowed many Guests to plan their trip when it is best for them. Make sure to check out the two new nighttime spectaculars that light up the sky at both the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. These shows debuted at the start of the celebration and have been a welcome addition to the park experience. Also, there are many new treats all around the parks and resorts that commemorate the 50th Celebration. If you are a cinnamon roll fan like myself, the Magic Kingdom has a new one located at the Main Street Bakery.
I hope you have an amazing holiday, Julie!
