Hi Noah!
Welcome to planDisney! Thank you so much for stopping by and sending this great
Disneyland Resort planning question to us hEAR!
I love
Disney Gift Cards. They are what I ask for every birthday and holiday because they can be used for literally every aspect of my Disneyland Resort,
Walt Disney World Resort,
Disney Cruise Line, and
Disney Vacation Club vacations! From paying for a
Hotel Room to all of my
snacks and souvenEARs, there are very few places at Mickey's house (and his Florida house, and his boat, etc) that
don't accept this form of Mickey money.
I honestly can only think of a few locations that don't accept Disney Gift Cards, Noah: the vending machine mini-mart at
Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel, a few third-party vendors in the
Downtown Disney District (they should have stickers on the door or by their cash registers if they accept Disney Gift Cards), and the
balloon vendors inside the parks. And even then, I think there's a way that you can pay for a balloon inside a specific shop on Main Street U.S.A. in Disneyland Park and they'll give you a voucher that can be redeemed for a balloon.
Disney Gift Cards can be swiped like a regular gift card or they can be saved to your mobile wallet and scanned from your phone or smartwatch. The
Disneyland Mobile App can even now accept Disney Gift Cards to pay for
Mobile Food and Beverage Orders as well as
Merchandise Mobile Checkout!
Pro Tip:
The Disneyland Mobile App cannot store a
Disney Gift Card the same way it will a regular credit or debit card. But, the workaround or hashtag Disney Hack to this is to open up a note in your phone and jot down the gift card number as well as the access code from the back of the card. When you're ready to use it in a mobile order, just copy from the note and paste into the payment box! (Bonus tip - when I have multiple gift cards, I like to also include in my note how much each card initially held and how much I spent on each transaction.)
I hope that this answer helped clEAR up your question, Noah, and better plan for your upcoming Disney day! Be sure to follow the
