Ahoy there, Yesenia! Welcome aboard, planDisney!
Your magical Disney cruise countdown is almost over, and I’m so excited for you! I bet you’re in the midst of making all the Disney plans and packing all the things, in preparation for your sailing.
DisneyBand+ is probably on that list, so I’d be happy to share how to purchase one. DisneyBand+ is a game-changer for Disney cruising, due to its hands-free and lanyard-optional capabilities. It’s one of my favorite features Disney Cruise Line has introduced in recent years!
If you're purchasing DisneyBand+ while at home, it must be purchased at least 11 days prior to your sailing, so that it arrives in time. Guests cannot purchase it at home and pick it up on the ship. However, you can
purchase DisneyBand+ on board your cruise, inside the merchandise shops. In my experience, I’ve seen them on every ship I’ve sailed on recently, with different styles and colors available. However, offerings are always subject to change. I suggest purchasing it as soon as you’re able to, to ensure you get the style and color you would like, in case restocks are difficult. Please note that due to port laws, the merchandise shops will not be open until after the ship has sailed, usually around 5 PM on embarkation day, as the shops on board must remain closed while docked at port.
But don’t worry about not having another option during those daytime embarkation day hours, because your
Key to the World Card will work just the same as DisneyBand+. You can find your Key to the Word Card in the mail slot on your stateroom door, starting at 1:30 PM, on embarkation day. Having that Key to the World Card is always a nice backup option, should your DisneyBand+ need charging (or, in my case, gets accidentally forgotten on the stateroom dresser).
Once you purchase your DisneyBand+ on board, you should head over to the
Guest Services Desk so that they can assign it to your stateroom. This is how you will open your stateroom door. You will also use your DisneyBand+ on board for many other things, such as making purchases, taking photos with the Disney Cruise Line photographers, checking kids out of Disney’s Oceaneer Club, and interacting with some of the shows and games on board.
Another suggestion, if you're sailing out of Port Canaveral, is to purchase a
MagicBand+ before your sailing. I’m not sure which port you’re sailing from based on your arrival date, but if you’re sailing from Port Canaveral and are near Walt Disney World Resort, you can purchase a MagicBand+ from either World of Disney in Disney Springs or any of the merchandise shops in every Disney Resort Collection hotel, as MagicBand+ and DisneyBand+ work the same. This could also be a good option if you want to ensure you have a MagicBand+ ready to go before you set sail.
My last suggestion is to make sure to
charge your DisneyBand+ nightly, so that it’s available for you to use the next morning.
Yesenia, I hope I was able to help you locate a DisneyBand+ for your upcoming sailing. I wish you the most beautiful memories on board. Please sail back to planDisney if you have any other questions.
Bon Voyage,
Rana
