Is it a must to buy a Dining Plan? I am planning our first family trip to DisneyWorld for October/2016 and we are staying for 5 days. A Dining Plan for 4 people is coming at almost $1200 for 5 days. That's a lot more than we can afford.

    Hi Ana!

A Dining Plan is certainly not essential for your Walt Disney World visit. If you would prefer, you can plan your own meals at the Parks and Resorts. Hop on over to the Dining page of the Walt Disney World website to explore the many options available to you. I would highly recommend making Advanced Dining Reservations for any meals you will be eating on the Disney property. You can do this 180 days before your visit.

When my family takes a vacation to Walt Disney World, there have been times when we have gone to a local grocery store to buy breakfast items. Eating breakfast in our rooms definitely helps us when the budget is a little tight.

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Mom's Panel. Please come back if we can do anything else to help you. Have a magical day!
