    If I buy an annual pass today, I understand that it doesn't start until the first day I use it. If I buy the pass today, can I book a vacation using an annual pass discount now or do I have to activate the pass by using it at a park first?

    Hi Jennifer! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

    If you are anything like me, becoming an Annual Passholder is so exciting! In my mind it gives me unlimited access to the all of the magic! When you order your Annual Pass, they will send you an exchange certificate. You will need this certificate to activate your Annual Pass once you arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort. 

    Although you will have this certificate, this pass will not be active until the first day that you use it. Although the Annual Pass technically won’t be active, it is my understanding that you will be able to start to use some of the benefits. If  any Passholder discounts are available you should be able to book them after you purchase your Annual Pass.  Please know that upon Check-In to your Resort hotel, you will be required to show your Annual Pass or Exchange certificate.
