Is it busier to stay in WDW in Oct (3-9)? I am trying to book a deluxe hotel and they all seem to have no rooms at a standard rate...thank you!

Hi Jerilyn! It is hard to always know what is happening at Walt Disney World to cause certain resorts to be booked. However, for the Epcot Deluxe resorts this is the time of the annual Food and Wine Festival and the Boardwalk, Yacht Club, and Beach Club resorts all book up quickly. Many rooms are actually used for the chefs and wine personalities who are participating in the Festival. October is also a month which draws large groups for conventions to the Yacht Club resort.

With those resorts filling up with festival and convention guests it will draw others to book at the Magic Kingdom resorts. These reasons might all cause rooms to be hard to find and especially at standard rates. My suggestion is to book something and then keep calling or checking on line daily to see if a cancellation comes through. Honestly this can happen. I had tried for months to get a reservation at Fort Wilderness over Thanksgiving and just found one two weeks ago!

The parks themselves will not be overly crowded. Epcot of course increases in guests especially on weekends. Avoid that park on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and take advantage of the park's Extra Magic Hours. Also consider purchasing tickets for the special event party in the Magic Kingdom during your stay. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is a fun filled night in the park that includes a special parade and fireworks show.
