Hi Lauren, welcome to planDisney!
Walt Disney World is very accommodating and offers many
Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities. You don't have to worry one bit about
bus transportation with a power wheelchair or scooter at Walt Disney World. Almost all the buses can accommodate them and the bus drivers are very efficient with helping Guests board and disembark.
When heading to a theme park from
Disney's All-Star Sports Resort, you'll notice chains are set up to manage the lines for those waiting to board a bus. There is a separate line to the left of the stand-by line that is marked for handicap boarding. That is where you'll want to wait with your travel party. When the bus arrives, Guests on the bus who need to disembark will be let off. The bus driver will then load Guests with mobility devices.
Similarly, when returning to Disney's All-Start Sports Resort from a theme park, you should also see a separate line to the left of the standard stand-by line that is marked for handicap boarding. You and your travel party will want to wait in this area for your return trip.
The process is simple and once you go through it a couple of times, you will feel at ease traveling with your mobility device. Please note that most buses can hold up to two mobility devices in the securement areas on the bus. If more than two mobility devices are waiting to board a bus, you will need to wait for the next bus to board.
Lauren, I hope you find this information helpful. Please let us know if there is anything further we can assist you with. Have a magical vacation!
