Are all buses and monorails operating before magic hour? I’m in town for the marathon and want to know if I will be able to get from Epcot to Animal Kingdom in the morning for Magic Hour.

    Hi Nicole!

Thank you for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. Enjoy every exciting minute of marathon weekend!

Walt Disney World transportation schedules are subject to change, so my suggestion is to check in with the Cast Members at your resort hotel to be sure you have the most current information. Disney buses usually begin operating 45 minutes prior to park opening; on Extra Magic Hour mornings, this means 45 minutes before the Extra Magic Hour opening time. Disney monorail transportation usually begins running 30 minutes before the earliest park opening. I rode the monorail to an Extra Magic Hour park opening on my last trip and arrived with time to spare.

Nicole, if you’re traveling from an Epcot-area resort to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you will need to take a bus; the monorail does not travel to Animal Kingdom. When you check in to your hotel, you’ll receive a printed Times Guide that will list park hours, including Extra Magic Hours. Please keep in mind that transportation routes and schedules can be affected by the marathon weekend, as traffic is rerouted to accommodate the race course. Your resort and transportation Cast Members will be able to give you the most up-to-date information when you arrive.

Wishing you a magical marathon weekend and a great race!
