Hiya, Whitley!
Welcome to planDisney. It looks like you'll be ringing in the New Year at
Disney's Old Key West Resort and you couldn't have picked a better location –– with some of the largest Villas at Walt Disney World Resort and easy access to
Disney Springs by boat and on foot, its the perfect spot to celebrate the year ahead!
You'll find 2-Bedroom Villas, as well as Deluxe Studios and 1-Bedroom Villas, in every building at Disney's Old West Resort –– the only room type that isn't available in each building is the 3-Bedroom Grand Villa. If you'd like to be in a specific building during your stay, I recommend making that request at the Front Desk when you check in. While I can't guarantee that the building you choose will be available, I can tell you that Cast Members go out of their way to make magic happen for their Guests. It might mean waiting a few extra minutes for your room, but in my experience, room requests can almost always be accommodated within reason.
Keep in mind that Disney's Old Key West is a
very large Resort, so you might also want to think about requesting a room based on your mobility needs. If you won't have access to a car, you're unable to walk long distances, or you're traveling with small children in strollers, you may find a room near the Hospitality House is the most convenient –– while the Resort does have an
internal shuttle to the Hospitality House, you'll need to factor the extra transportation time and the potential hassle of folding your stroller into your plans. Similarly, if you're interested in walking to Disney Springs or
Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, I suggest requesting a room close to South Point pool for easy access to the walking path. The walk to Saratoga Springs takes about 15-20 minutes and Disney Springs is an additional 10-15 minutes from there. If you haven't done enough walking during your Walt Disney World Resort vacation, it's a great way to get a few extra steps in –– plus, you can always return by boat if you're too tired to repeat the process on the way back!
Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney, Whitley. If you think of anything else as you plan your upcoming visit, please be sure to stop by again –– we're always here to help!
Have a Magical Day,
Amy
