Galactic greetings, Garrett, and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I sense the Force is strong with you, and I can’t wait for you to build your own lightsaber at
Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers in
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge!
I recently had the chance to watch my son build his very own lightsaber, and it was one of my favorite
Disneyland Resort experiences thus far! There are several options for getting your custom lightsaber home safely. Your first option is to store it at
Droid Depot upon completion for the rest of your Disney day – a Cast Member there can assist you, as long as you have your receipt handy. Then, you could pick it up from the Droid Depot by park closing, and bring it with you on your flight home. I have heard of some Galaxy’s Edge fans bringing their lightsaber as their carry-on, and storing it in the overhead compartment of their airplane. The 31” lightsaber blade can be removed from the hilt (the base) so that helps make this possible. It’s always a good idea to call your airline ahead of time to make sure this option will also work for you.
If you happen to be staying at a
Disneyland Resort Hotel, you can also ask to have your lightsaber sent directly to your hotel upon completion. During your transaction, simply let the Cast Member know, and they’ll make the arrangements for no additional charge. Then, you can pick up your lightsaber at the hotel’s Bell Services desk after 7:00 AM the following day.
If you’d prefer not to travel with your lightsaber, I recommend having it shipped home directly from Batuu. Simply let one of the Gatherers (Cast Members at Savi’s Workshop) know that you’d prefer to have your lightsaber shipped, and they’ll take care of it while you’re making your purchase. Lightsabers can currently only be shipped domestically, as long as you’re willing to pay the shipping fee.
I recommend making a reservation ahead of time if you’re interested in this out-of-this-galaxy experience. You can book your Savi’s Workshop reservation up to 60 days in advance
online or on the
Disneyland app.
Last, but certainly not least, no trip to Batuu is complete without visiting the
Milk Stand and sampling Blue or Green Milk. You can even mix the two for a refreshing concoction!
May the Force be with you, Garrett!
