My brother passed away five years ago and we will be at Disney World on the day that is his birthday. August 29th 2015. Does Disney offer something that would honor my brother and his life that would make this an extra special trip for my mother and sister

    Hello Joshua,

I am so sorry for your family's loss. As I tried to think of what I could write to help you honor your brother's life, I remembered one of my favorite answers given on the Disney Parks Moms Panel site. It is from Moms Panelist Derek, and you can read it here. I can't say it any better than that.

Like Derek, I agree that you should do something to celebrate your brother's life, whether it be an attraction he loved or you think he would love. Perhaps eat a special meal with his favorite food and share your favorite stories about your brother. Laugh, cry, and eat an extra slice of birthday cake. Honor your brother with joy and laughter and make new memories to celebrate him and your family.

One thing my children do for their grandmother who passed away is throw a coin into Cinderella's Wishing Well next to Cinderella Castle. They make a wish for her and tell her about something good that happened to them during the year. And all the money thrown into the well goes to charity.

If we can be of any assistance, please visit us again at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I wish you many magical memories for your special trip as you honor and remember your brother in your hearts.
