Hey, Howdy, Hey, Lindsay!
Welcome to planDisney. Let me first begin with a thank you from my military family to yours. As an active duty family, we love bringing everyone together for a Disney vacation. Our next one will include the grandparents, so we're excited! Truthfully, though, I’m trying to push that visit up so that we can take full advantage of the
new military offer. A year full of Disney visits, I’m so excited!
Depending on which ticket your brother-in-law purchased determines if he needs to be present. If you are visiting with the Military Salute
4, 5, or 6-day ticket, he will need to be present to activate those tickets for everyone in the party using his military ID. Once they have been activated, you can enter the parks with or without him. A few years ago, my husband enjoyed a
fishing excursion while the kids and I went to Magic Kingdom without him. Later in the day, we all met back up together in EPCOT. Since our tickets had all been activated together the day before, we were good to go and enjoy the remaining length of our theme park tickets.
Now, if you are visiting with
non-promotional tickets, the service member does not need to be present when using those tickets. As those are sold, pre-activated, you can enter and visit the theme parks without him being present. If you are unsure which tickets are linked to your account, I recommend
calling the Walt Disney World Reservations and Tickets line. A Cast Member on the other end will be more than happy to check to see which type of ticket is linked to your account.
I hope this helps answer your question. Hopefully, your brother-in-law can get some time to unwind and enjoy the theme parks with all of you because a Walt Disney World vacation really does bring the family all together.
Have a great visit, and if you need anything else, please
let me know!
