i am brining my 4yo and 6yo grandson to magic kingdom in 2-weeks and would like to have a picnic on tom sawyer island and then a rest time for 1-hour under a shade tree is that possible?

    Hi Carrie!

I think that sounds absolutely wonderful!  So few people take the time to explore Tom Sawyer island - it really is a hidden gem.  While you are crossing over on your raft, be sure to give a big "Whoop Whoop" to Omar if he is working.  Talk about a cast member who really enjoys his job - even on the hottest days he takes the time to make your day magical!!!

There are several spots to picnic near Aunt Polly's and they are all under cover and out of the sun.  Several picnic tables are scattered randomly throughout the island, although I don't remember any of them being shaded.  As far as taking a rest, I guess it depends if you want the boys to sleep or not.  I highly doubt that they will fall asleep in the heat, but they may take a much needed break.  Please allow at least an hour for the boys to explore the caves, bridges and forts.  I must warn you, it is tempting to let the boys run off on their own, but at their ages, it is best to try and keep up with them.  However, older children should be fine exploring on their own for a while - my older kids love it!  Have fun at one of our favorite places in Disney World!
