We are bringing my 2 yr old granddaughter with us this fall. How does it work for her to eat at the character meals at Topolino's and Hollywood & Vine since they are not family style? Are we able to order extra for our meals to share with her?

Hello and Welcome to planDisney, Cheryl. Thanks for dropping by with your question. I can see you have a trip planned to the Most Magical Place On Earth later this year. I love visiting around that time, you are going to have so much fun.

Children under the age of 3 are personal Guests of my pal Mickey Mouse and don't necessarily need to pay for food when dining at the Walt Disney World Restaurants. At all-you-care-to-enjoy restaurants, children under the age of 3 can have as many of their own plates of food as they would like. At restaurants where you order a single entree from the menu, children under the age of three are welcome to plate share with anyone at the table. If you'd like to order your Granddaughter her own plate of food at restaurants like that, you would need to then pay for a meal for her.

I did want to mention that even though you order a single breakfast entree at Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera, it's actually considered an all-you-care-to-enjoy meal. Meaning that you can order multiple breakfast entrees per person if you would like to. I absolutely love the breakfast quiche there but I can't say no to a Mickey Waffle and at Topolino's, I don't have to! In addition to the delicious entree items, they also bring around a pastry basket that you can have refilled as many times as you would like. Hollywood & Vine is working as more of a prix fixe meal to pick one option in each category.  For lunch and dinner, you'll be served bread and salad to the table and then each person may select one entree and one dessert to enjoy. You'll need to plate share for this meal unless you get a server who is feeling generous. Then he or she might bring a little extra of something to the table for your Granddaughter to enjoy.

Right now, character dining does not look exactly like it did before. Characters no longer are stopping at individual tables signing autographs and posing for pictures. You'll find now characters dancing, waving, and stopping for pictures at an appropriate distance from other people. Don't worry though, it is still so much fun. In fact, I actually got the best picture I've ever taken with my girl, Minnie Mouse, at Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera not that long ago. I think it's because she was further away from me and I got her whole outfit in the selfie. It was super cute.

I hope this helps, Cheryl. If you have any other questions before your trip, please feel free to stop back by and ask me. I'm here to help.

    Happy planning!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
