bringing my 8 yr old grand daughter and her mother that is 36 both are handicapped how is the best way to see the parks

    Hi Susie,

Thanks for visiting planDisney with your question! The Disneyland Resort has taken great strides to ensure that all Guests have a magical experience in the parks. I’m happy to share some options that might be helpful for your daughter and granddaughter to have a magical time in the parks.

Before heading to the park, I recommend exploring Disneyland Resort’s resources and accommodations for those with disabilities. This can help you identify services that are appropriate for your family. This includes everything from transportation support to listening devices. When you arrive at the park, you can also stop by the Accessibility Services Kiosk to get helpful resources on how to navigate the parks in a more accessible way.

While on your trip, be sure to take advantage of the services that Disneyland provides to help with wait times. You might want to consider services such as Rider Switch or the Disability Access Service (DAS) available at both Disneyland and California Adventure. These services help make waiting in line easier for Guests who will have difficulty navigating the queue or with developmental differences and may find it difficult to wait in a traditional queue for an extended period of time.

If your daughter and granddaughter are in need of an Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) to help get around, ECVs are available to rent in the Esplanade, just east of the Disneyland entrance gates. There is a rental fee, and vehicles are available on a first-come, first-served basis—so it’s best to arrive early, as they cannot be reserved in advance.

Susie, I noticed that your trip is right at the beginning of Holiday Time at the Disneyland Resort! Be sure to check out the Disney Parks Blog for a sneak peek at the holiday season. Your granddaughter may really enjoy the Holiday Fun with Santa and Friends in the Fantasyland Theatre, where she can meet Santa along with Pluto, Goofy, and Clarabelle!

I hope this information was helpful, Susie! If you have more questions or would like tips for your upcoming adventure, feel free to reach out to me or any of my fellow planDisney panelists. We're always here to add a little extra pixie dust to your vacation.

    Happy Planning!
