We are bringing a 5 yr granddaughter in May. We booked AKL, but read some comments about it being far from the MK (30 min each way). Now trying to decide if we should change hotels. Any advice w/b very helpful its her 1st trip. We want it to be perfect!

    Hi Cheri!

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is a great resort hotel!  Most young guests absolutely fall in love with it.  The theming is awesome, the pool is fantastic, and the animals are cool!  I think your 5 year old granddaughter will love it.

However, it is far from the Magic Kingdom.  If you are going to being spending a lot of time in the Magic Kingdom and you feel that you want to take your granddaughter back to the room in the afternoon for a nap, swimi in the pool. etc. then you might consider staying in a monorail resort instead:  Grand Floridian, Polynesian Resort, and the Contemporary Resort.  The Wilderness Lodge is also close to the Magic Kingdom, but it is connected to it via a boat.

If you don't plan on coming back in the afternoons, then I recommend staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

    Have a magical vacation!
