We are bringing our now 4-year-old to Disney World Orlando for the first time and to celebrate his 5th birthday. We're staying at the Art of Animation resort. Can we use the bus service to parks and leave car at resort, before check-in time?

    Hi Kelli,

Absolutely! Whenever we visit Walt Disney World, we always head straight to our resort to drop our car, even if it is early in the morning. Part of a Disney vacation for us is being able to leave the driving to someone else for a few days.

Even before check-in time, your MagicBands will give you access to the parking.

I recommend that you do online check-in and note your arrival time. Often, if they know you are coming early, they can have your room ready well before the 3 p.m. check-in. There's no guarantee, of course, but it happens frequently, especially in slower seasons. If our room is ready, we usually unload our luggage before we head to the parks.

If not, we ask that our room number be texted to us when it is available. You can also make that request during online check-in. If you know your room number, you can skip the front desk and head straight there. Your MagicBand is your room key.

A Walt Disney World vacation is a fabulous way to celebrate a birthday, whether you are 5 or 85. Make sure you get your son one of the complimentary Happy Birthday buttons at the resort or Guest Relations at any theme park. When you wear it, you get lots of greetings and occasionally a special surprise.

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Kelli. Happy birthday to your son, and enjoy your time with your family!
