Welcome to planDisney, Tom! Thanks for stopping by with your question.
It sounds like you are one stellar grandparent. My kids would LOVE to bring a friend on a cruise with their grandparents, and here you are, making it happen. I can't wait for you to step aboard and make those memories.
In order to check in at the port, you will need the
proper travel documentation, and that includes original birth certificates only. Copies will not be accepted. I'm sorry if this was not the answer you were hoping to hear, but I'm so glad that you stopped by to ask so that your granddaughter's friend can be prepared. You'll also need to have the
Authorization for Minor to Travel without a Parent or Legal Guardian form filled out and ready to present at the port.
On embarkation day, your granddaughter and her friend should drop by
Edge, the space for 11-14-year-olds to hang out, participate in counselor-led activities, and make friends. There are usually get-to-know-you-style games on the first night of the cruise, and my kids have enjoyed them.
If you have any more questions, please return to us at planDisney and ask. My pals and I will do our best to help.
Happy Planning,
Adrianna
