We're bringing our 2 year old for his first trip next holiday season and were wondering- do children under 3 need tickets for special events like MVMCP and Jollywood Nights, or are they still considered "guests of Mickey Mouse"?

    Hiya Shelby,

Thank you so much for stopping by planDisney with your special event ticket question. First of all, how exciting that you are bringing your two-year-old on his very first trip, during the holiday season, too. That is such a magical way to experience Disney World for the first time. The holidays at Disney are truly my favorite time of year. The beautiful garlands, sparkling lights, and towering Christmas trees during the winter holidays. There is just something extra special about the parks during this time.

Let’s jump right into your question. Guests aged two and under do not need a theme park ticket to enter the parks. This also applies to special ticketed events like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Jollywood Nights. Once a child turns three, that becomes the magical birthday when a theme park ticket will be required for both regular park admission and special events.

Just a reminder, even though guests two and under do not need a ticket, be sure to include them in your party size when making dining reservations. This helps Cast Members properly set the table and ensures they have the correct number of guests in your party, avoiding delays.

Since you are visiting during the holiday season and considering a special event, I highly recommend leaning into the festive fun and dressing up. My family loves coordinating outfits for these events. For Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, we often wear matching sweaters or pajamas.  For Jollywood Nights, it is so fun to dress up in holiday glam or festive outfits. It makes the photos feel even more magical and really adds to the memories.

Lastly, because you are planning around the holiday events, I recommend keeping an eye on the Disney Parks Blog. That is usually where Disney first announces event dates, ticket sale information, special holiday merchandise, exclusive treats, and all the festive details that make these events so special.

Shelby, I hope this helps answer your question and makes planning your little one’s first magical holiday visit even more exciting. If any other questions pop up while you are planning, please feel free to stop by and visit us again.

    See you real soon,
