Bringing our 5 year old for first Disney Trip April 18-25!! He is dinosaur crazy, I had wanted to make reservations at TRex my travel agent said it is walk up only no reservations taken, just double checking on that. Any other dino tips would be great!

    Amy:

Although you can get a standby reservation for T-Rex, I'm afraid that you've received some misleading information about advance reservations at the restaurant. You can make reservations by calling Disney's dining line at: 407-939-3463. Our family got them for our trip in November, and the restaurant offered one of the best meals we had! (Don't miss the ravioli or the balsamic chicken flatbread appetizer!)

As for my dino tips: your best bet for sightings are at Animal Kingdom, of course. Our 5-year-old's favorite place was the giant dino dig playground that you may actually miss just off the thoroughfare to Dino-Land. Once inside, many do not realize that you can take the bridge from the three-story playground back across the walkway to the dinosaur dig. And I have to say it's a parent's joy: in place of dirt for the kids to whisk away from the bones, you'll find tiny pebbles. So no dirty knees and filthy (well, just not-as-filthy-as-if-it-were-dirty-filthy) clothes!

FYI: Your child may not meet the height requirement for DINOSAUR the ride--and that may be a good thing. The ride is quite jarring on the body and may be too scary for even young scientists who are big dinosaur fans. I'd save it for a future visit....

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
