Hi I am bringing my son for his first trip to the magical place ever ! He will be turning 5 on sept 9 but we are going on sept 13 is there anything that i can do extra to make his trip special ???? We are staying at art animation ! Thank you!!!

Hello Megan. Oh my goodness! As a grandmother to a five-year-old, this question makes my heart happy! Welcome to the planDisney Clubhouse, where I am excited to yell, "Oh, Toodles!" and reach for my handy-dandy mouseketool to help you plan a special birthday for your son's very first visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth! (I think I'm as excited as you are!)

First off, your son will LOVE the Art of Animation! With its larger-than-life decorations, he is going to have a magical time at your Resort hotel. Now, let's explore some extra special activities to make this birthday truly Mickey-riffic!

My first suggestion would be a special character dining experience. My five-year-old granddaughter would rank this at the very top of her list! You can enjoy meals at The Crystal Palace, where you can hang out with Winnie the Pooh and his friends, have breakfast with Lilo and Stitch at 'Ohana, or meet Mickey and his pals at Chef Mickey's. Be sure to inform one of the Cast Members that it is your son's birthday to enhance the magic of the experience. Since these meals are quite popular, making your reservations 60 days in advance is important.

Megan, did you know that you can order the most adorable Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake for a birthday celebration? I assure you, these cakes are as delicious as they look, with options for dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate flavors!

Be sure to pick up a complimentary Celebration Button at your first park or Resort hotel. This birthday button will let Cast Members, fellow Guests like me, and the characters know he is celebrating a big birthday. I guarantee he'll be doing the "Hot Dog Dance" in excitement with all the birthday wishes he'll receive during his trip!

I have one last suggestion! Since you will be arriving in September, consider getting tickets for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. This is what I would choose for my granddaughter's celebration. Your son and the whole family can dress up and enjoy trick-or-treating throughout Magic Kingdom. How fun is that? At this party, you'll find special character meet-and-greets, a Halloween fireworks show, and the popular Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade. What a fantastic way to celebrate a birthday! We expect an announcement about this year's festivities any day now, so keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for updates.

Megan, I'm so happy you've visited us with your very important birthday question. I hope this helps and you'll find the perfect way to celebrate your special little guy! If you are still looking for other suggestions, be sure to look at the Enchanting Extras Collection for the complete list of "extra special" offerings. I'm so excited for you. Have the most wonderful time, and please visit us again as you plan your upcoming trip. We are thrilled to help.

A very happy early birthday to your son and a very merry unbirthday to you!
