I will be bringing my niece to WDW this Spring for our first Aunt/niece trip! I have several magic bands. Can I use one of those for her and, if so, how do I go about doing that?

Hey there, Carla. I think it is so sweet that you are bringing your niece to Walt Disney World for a special trip for just the two of you. I know you are going to make memories that last a lifetime.

At this time, MagicBands cannot be reassigned to another person. Because of this, you won't be able to give your niece one of your old bands to use for your upcoming vacation. Complimentary MagicBands are no longer being provided but if you would like her to have one before your trip you can order her one via your MyDisneyExperience account. My family and I have a plethora of MagicBands too so I typically don't even look at the options. However, I was actually browsing the selection just the other day looking for a birthday band for my daughter and I was pleasantly surprised by all of the cute options. Also, they had a variety of plain colors for only $5.00 which I thought was a great deal. If you don't want to order her a MagicBand ahead of time, you can also just pick up one when you arrive at Walt Disney World. Most of the souvenir shops at the resorts and theme parks carry MagicBands. But, this is completely optional and she actually doesn't need one at all. You can pick up a Key to the World card for her at your resort's front desk. With the Key to the World card, she'll be able to unlock the resort room door, enter the Walt Disney World Theme Parks and have charging privileges (if you wish) - basically everything a MagicBand can do. The cards have recently been redesigned and I think they are absolutely adorable. I'd actually like to have them all!

Also, be sure to have the MyDisneyExperience app downloaded on your smartphone before your trip. From the app you can also unlock your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel's door, see attraction wait times at all of the Walt Disney World Theme Parks and view your photos taken by PhotoPass photographers. But probably the most used feature right now is mobile ordering. Most quick-service dining locations are only accepting mobile ordering at this time. From the app you'll be able to view the menu, customize your order and pay. Once your food is ready you'll receive a notification letting you know which area you can pick up your food at. You'll show this notification to the Cast Member at the door of the restaurant and you'll be able to go in and pick up your order. I actually think this is a pretty convenient process and wouldn't mind if it sticks around when things get back to normal.

Carla, I hope the two of you have so much fun on your trip. If you have any other questions before you go, I'd love to help

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
