I am bringing my will be 18mo to disney in jan 2012 and will need a stroller even at the airport should i bring an umbrella or regular stroller seeing as how he will be sleeping in it as well. Not sure how this works on the flight and buses. suggestions.

    Hi Dana:

I have a five and four year old who have been traveling to Disney World since they were infants.  There is so much walking and moving around at Walt Disney World that you are correct, your 18 month old will be using the stroller for naps.  We've experimented with different strollers and arrangements. My family uses a local Orlando stroller-rental service, They are familiar working with Disney World guests and conveniently deliver and pick up the stroller right from your Resort.

However, you note that you need a stroller at the airport, so you should bring a stroller from home.  If you can transport your regular stroller easy enough, I would bring your regular stroller.  It's likely your regular stroller is more comfortable and can recline for naps, unlike many umbrella strollers.  A comfortable 18 month old will be much better than an uncomfortable one.  If your regular stroller does not travel well or fold up, you should consider an umbrella stroller.  You can bring folded up strollers on Disney buses.  Obviously, the more compact the folded up stroller, the easier it is to travel.  If it turns our that an umbrella stroller is the appropriate option because your regular stroller does not fold up easily, I would not worry too much as it's likely your 18 month old will easily adapt to the umbrella stroller.

We always attach a multi-colored ribbon to our stroller handle to help the strollers stand out when we return to claim them. Occasionally, Cast Members will slightly move or reorganize strollers to keep walkways clear or the stroller zones tidy. Do not worry if you don't immediately see your stroller when leaving the ride or attraction. It's usually not far from where you left it, and the ribbon you tie on the handle will help you easily locate the stroller.

    Enjoy your vacation.
