    I am bringing my granddaughter to Walt Disney World for her 3rd birthday. She will be turning 3 half way through the week. Is it better to list her as two or three. I was told I can only purchase a dining plan for her if she is listed as three.

    Hi Melody!

    Happy Birthday to your sweet little princess!  We took our own princess when she turned 3, and she had a truly magical time!  

    Your granddaughter's age at check-in will be her age for the entire vacation.  Since she will be 2, she will not qualify for the Disney Dining Plan, nor will she require park admission.  It's a really great savings for those kids 2 and under.  We always budgeted a little extra for our kids when they were 2 and under for meals.  Most of the time, we ended up sharing from our plates, and they managed fine!  Also remember that they'll eat free at buffet-style meals and all-you-care-to-eat meals as well.  

    Make sure to have your celebration listed on your hotel and dining reservations as well, and if you don't get one at check-in, do make sure to get a "Birthday Button" for her to wear around the parks!  That button was one of my daughter's favorite magical surprises, and she absolutely beamed when Cast Members told her Happy Birthday!
