We're bringing our 2 grandchildren (7&5) and have tickets to MVMCP. I'm confused about designated parks for base tickets and for park hopper. We'll be there for 2 days plus the day of Christmas party. Would you buy two days of park hopper? Thanks

    Kaye:

Sorry it took me so long to answer your question—I've been at Disney!

The one-park only ticket allows you to go to only one park for the entire day, you choose the park (our family chooses this option nearly every time).  The park hopper ticket allows you to "hop" from park to park, visiting up to all four during the day if you want!  (Realistically, though, the transportation between the parks makes this a less-than-desirable quest!)

I usually recommend to folks with young children or those with ANY mobility issues to save the $50 or so plus tax per person per day on the park hopper and do one park a day, at a pace you can enjoy.  I'd give you the same recommendation, and with this approach your savings will pay for your Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party—for everyone!

FYI: There's lots of ways you could schedule your three days plus MVMCP, keeping in mind that my experience has been that the MVMCP will give you access to Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00 even though the ticket says 7 p.m.  These options include everything from watching your budget by visiting two other parks on the other two days, and on the day of MVMCP, enjoying your resort and Downtown Disney before going to the Magic Kingdom to the more expensive, full-blown park hopper for all three days to squeeze in the WHOLE enchilada.

But, if it were me, I'd make it a happy medium....buy the one-park only, and visit Magic Kingdom on the first day of your visit (afterall, that's what kids think of when they think of Disney!).  Then, take in Disney Studios on the second day, and Animal Kingdom on the day of MVMCP because it closes early.  Leave AK after lunch, return to your resort to rest and then get ready for the party!  (Leave Epcot for the next visit!)

    Wishing you a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
